50 Home Challenge Update
CHERP Launches Block Parties!
This past Saturday CHERP hosted its first 50 Home Challenge Block Party in front of volunteer and Claremont resident, David Serbin's home. David was generous enough to open his home as a base for CHERP volunteers who went door-to-door asking Claremont residents to sign up for FREE home energy evaluations. The booth, seen below, was staffed to answer questions, serve lemonade, perform face-painting, and sign-up residents right on the spot. In just a few hours, 25+ volunteers knocked over 200 doors and signed-up over 20 people for FREE home energy evaluations.
Block Party Round 2...
CHERP will be hosting their second Block Party this Saturday at 580 Cinderella Dr. starting at 9AM and ending at Noon. Stop by to sign-up for a free home energy evaluation, knock some doors, enjoy some lemonade, or to simply meet some of your neighbors and students from the Claremont Colleges.
Next Neighborhood Meeting Thursday!
The next 50 Home Challenge Neighborhood Meeting will be Thursday September 7th at 5:30PM at 406 Fordham Place Claremont, CA. Please RSVP by emailing cherp.claremont@gmail.com.
Student Spotlight: Anam Mehta
Anam Mehta is a first-year student at Pomona College and a volunteer for the CHERP 50 Home Challenge. When asked why he chose CHERP, Anam said "I chose to volunteer with CHERP because I wanted to make a difference in my community. The goal of energy efficiency in Claremont is incredibly important to our community and will ripple out to be a major positive to so many people outside the area."
